Homemade Health: Yogurt

6:30 PM - 7:00 PM

Event Details

It's a new year and a great time to start new, healthy habits. Start by learning the benefits of adding probiotic foods to your diet in this LIVE three-part series. You will learn three basic fermentation techniques to make yogurt, sauerkraut, and kombucha. Each of these foods improves digestion and provides immunity-boosting nutrients.

Online registration is required to receive the Zoom link to the live class. The ingredients you’ll need if you want to cook along with the instructor are listed below. This class should only take about 20-30 minutes in total.

TODAY'S CLASS: YOGURT

Although yogurt is generally assumed to be a nutritious snack, many of the drinkable, spoon-able, and squeezable yogurt products that come in countless flavors contain only a marginal amount of probiotics. Homemade yogurt is easy to make and rich in gut-healthy microbes. By learning how to make plain yogurt yourself, you can control the amount of sugar and create your own flavors.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • small container of store-bought PLAIN whole-milk yogurt with active bacteria cultures

Supplies you'll need:

  • stove
  • spoon
  • tablespoon measure
  • glass container with lid

Note: If you have pre-existing health conditions, serious gastro-intestinal concerns, are pregnant or nursing, have any other health or diet concerns, or are a child under 4 years old, please consult your doctor before trying fermented foods.
